A WEEKEND ROLLING IN GOOD VIBES

As the sun set over Singapore on Friday and Saturday nights, runners and walkers aplenty enjoyed a mood-lifting 5km race experience at the Good Vibes Run.

Runners chose the route that would bring them a smile, be it the “Colourful River” around Clarke Quay and Marina Bay, “Sunset Delight” and its grand views over Keppel Bay, or “Street Art” with a visual art cornucopia through Little India and Kampong Glam.

With a goal to outrun anxiety, runners came together as valuable funds were raised for the Singapore Association for Mental Health.

At the start lines there were chatty collectives of mum’s, parents with kids, couples, and an enthusiastic group of rollerbladers ready to cruise along the Singapore River.  They turned up eager to start their MyRaceGate app and get their journey underway, while listening to the informative and encouraging messaging, hearing personal pace splits, and the odd corny joke.

Participants included people who have suffered from mental health issues, supporting family members, a yoga instructor who is creating classes focused on meditation and anxiety reduction, and people who have started running during the pandemic to alleviate stress.

With a plethora of smiling selfies taken under pink skies, in front of illuminated bridges, or beside painted murals on street walls, it was clear that the positive vibes were flowing.

A big thanks to everyone who supported the event, including Sport Singapore, the Singapore Association for Mental Health and all of our event partners.
